Dear brothers and sisters,
Lutheran Disaster Response is responding to fourteen tornadoes that pounded
Iowa on Friday, May 15. The areas most damaged are in Washington County
and in the community of Washington. Mr. Jim Almquist, president of
Lutheran Social Service of Iowa, reports that some 8-9,000 people have been
affected. Over $20 million of damage has been sustained by homeowners,
farmers, and the business community. Through LSS-Iowa, Lutheran Disaster
Response is providing for emergency shelter, clothes, and basic needs for
life.
Your prayers are requested to uplift those affected by this latest
disaster. Your donations will also enable the church to continue its
response to Iowa, and to numerous areas across our country that are being
devastated by the severe spring weather.
