CHICAGO (ELCA) -- The Rev. H. George Anderson, presiding bishop of
the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), will preach at "Light
of the Ages," a vigil to mark the historic transition from the 20th to
the 21st century. The service will take place at Central Lutheran
Church, Minneapolis, at 7 p.m., Dec. 31, and will be locally broadcast

At the service, worshipers will remember God's faithfulness to

thousand years is as a day," according to a news release about the
service. A candle-lighting ceremony will be featured.
Music will be led by Dr. Paul Manz, organist. Liturgical dancers
will interpret ancient and prophetic themes.
Sponsors of the vigil are the ELCA Minneapolis Area Synod, the
ELCA Saint Paul Area Synod, Luther Seminary, St. Paul, a seminary of the
ELCA, the National Lutheran Choir and Central Lutheran Church.
