CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Christina Jackson-Skelton, Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) treasurer, announced May 30
that Jonathan Beyer, vice president for information technology
operations and infrastructure, Incisent Technologies, will
become executive director for ELCA Information Technology (IT)
on July 1.
Beyer will succeed LaRue Unglaube, who headed IT beginning
in April 1999, after serving as a systems analyst from 1988 to
1993 and IT manager for systems development from 1993 to 1999.
Unglaube retired May 31.
Beyer, 33, grew up in Milwaukee and Wausau, Wis., and moved
here in 1992. He earned a bachelor of science degree in
mathematics from DePaul University in 1996. He then worked as
an information security consultant with Andersen Consulting (now
Accenture) from 1996 to 1999, and as an architecture lead with
the accounting firm of Arthur Andersen from 1999 to 2001,
designing architecture strategies and managing technology
projects for the company. He was vice president of
infrastructure, Transora (now 1SYNC), from 2001 to 2006, before
he joined Incisent Technologies.
"Jonathan brings broad technical experience to this work
as well as a vision for aligning technology solutions with
organizational mission and priorities," Jackson-Skelton said.
"Jonathan has extensive experience in the areas of information
security, IT architecture design and planning, customer
relationship management, IT operations and project management."
"I am confident that Jonathan will provide excellent
leadership for the IT section of the Office of the Treasurer,"
Jackson-Skelton said. "We look forward to welcoming him to
the ELCA churchwide organization."
Jackson-Skelton added that she will be working with the
ELCA's current IT leadership team to deal with planning and
current tasks.
The IT unit provides information services that support
ELCA churchwide ministries and members. It also trains staff
in technology use policies, security and data processing, as
well as provides technical support for ELCA staff during
churchwide assemblies and gatherings.
