ELCA NEWS SERVICE January 29, 2010 Lutheran College Students Airlifted Out of Machu Picchu 10-040-MRC/MT* CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Two professors and 21 students from Gustavus Adolphus College stranded in Machu Picchu, Peru, were airlifted Jan. 28 to the nearby city of Cusco. The group was among an estimated 2,500 tourists in Machu Picchu waiting to be evacuated, after heavy rains and floods produced mudslides there.
