Title: LUTHERANS PLAN  GLOBAL MISSION
EVENTS

        CHICAGO (ELCA) -- #Born Anew to a Living
Hope# will be the theme this summer when the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America gathers mission-minded
participants at three Global Mission Events.  They will be:
June 27-30 at Whitworth College, Spokane, Wash.; July
18-21 at Augustana College, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and July
25-28 at Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, Pa.
        In 1995 the global festivals drew more than 3,000
people.  Speakers will include the Rev. H. George
Anderson, bishop of the ELCA; Musimbi Kanyoro,
secretary for Women in Church and Society, Lutheran
World Federation, Geneva;  Marva Dawn, Christians
Equipped for Ministry, Vancouver, Wash.; the Rev.
Barbara R. Rossing, New Testament professor, Lutheran
School of Theology at Chicago; and the Rev. Mitri Raheb,
a Palestianian pastor from Bethlehem#s  Evangelical
Lutheran Christmas Church.
        Missionary staff of the ELCA will come from many
countries to take part along with international guests from
partner churches around the world.  Music to be
performed comes from Africa, Asia, Latin America, North
America and Europe.
        Preachers will be the Rev. Yutaka Kishino, mission
director of the ELCA#s Pacifica and Southern California
(West) Synods, and Ana Villanueva, Department for
Mission and Development, Lutheran World Federation.
Youth and children will participate in special global
programs and activities designed for them.
