ELCA MEMBERS JOIN LWR BOARD

Two members of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America are joining the board of
Lutheran World Relief.  The Rev. Bonnie L.
Jensen, ELCA executive director for global
mission, and the Rev. Howard Wennes, bishop
of the ELCA's Grand Canyon Synod, were
elected to three-year terms.  Of the board's
11 members, seven are from the ELCA and four
are from the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
 Other ELCA members are: the Rev. Nadine F.
Lehr, Gettysburg, Pa.;  Charles P. Lutz,
Minneapolis; the Rev. Edward F. Markquart,
Des Moines, Wa.; Betty Lee Nyhus, Chicago;
and Dr. Novella Ross, Greensboro, N.C.  LWR
received income and material resources worth
nearly $22 million in 1995 and had expenses
of $18.5 million.  About 94 percent of
expenses were for program activities, the
balance was for administration.  Support for
LWR is provided by ELCA World Hunger Program
and LCMS World Relief.
