CORRECTION: ELCA Council Drafts, Forwards Three Resolutions
On Homosexuality
Friends:
In the story, "ELCA Council Drafts, Forwards Three Resolutions on
Homosexuality" issued April 11, 2005, please replace the 6th
paragraph with this wording:
The ELCA's 10,657 congregations are organized into 65 synods,
each headed by a bishop. If the synod bishop believes that an
exception to policy should be sought for a particular candidate
for ministry and the synod's governing council agrees, the synod
bishop would ask the ELCA Conference of Bishops to permit the
assignment of that gay or lesbian candidate to the synod. The
conference is made up of all 65 synod bishops, the ELCA presiding
bishop and ELCA secretary.
