Kanouse re-elected bishop of ELCA Northern Texas-Northern Louisiana Synod

CHICAGO (ELCA) - The Rev. Kevin S. Kanouse was re-elected April 27
to serve a third six-year term as bishop of the Northern Texas-Northern
Louisiana Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). He
was re-elected on the first ballot at the synod assembly in Irving, Texas.
Kanouse was born in Berwick, Pa. In 1975, he graduated from
Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa., and in 1980 he earned a
Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary at
Gettysburg in Gettysburg, Pa. Susquehanna is one of 26 ELCA colleges and
universities, and the seminary is one of eight of the ELCA.
Ordained in 1980, Kanouse served as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran
Church in Penryn, Pa., and Advent Lutheran Church in Arlington,
Texas. Kanouse was first elected bishop in 2000 and re-elected in 2006.
