AUGSBURG FORTRESS NAMES DIRECTOR FOR CANADIAN OPERATION

CHICAGO (ELCA) -- Augsburg Fortress Publishers, the
Minneapolis-based publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in
America (ELCA), announced Larry Willard will become executive director
for Augsburg Fortress Publishers, Canada, effective Jan. 3, 2000.
Willard joins Augsburg Fortress following a career as vice
president for institutional advancement, operations and marketing at
Tyndale College, Toronto, Ontario. Previously, Willard held management
posts at Xerox Corp. and Apple Computers in sales, marketing and
service.
He holds a bachelor of commerce degree from York
University/University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, and a master
of divinity from Tyndale College and Seminary, Toronto.
Willard will be responsible for development and execution of
Augsburg Fortress' Canadian operational and strategic plans, which
includes distributing products from Augsburg Fortress Publishers in the
United States, as well as distributing products from Concordia
Publishing House, the St. Louis-based publishing house of the Lutheran
Church - Missouri Synod. Marketing, sales, warehousing, distribution
and finance personnel will report to him.
Willard will report to Kenneth G. Hartwell, senior vice president
and chief marketing officer, Augsburg Fortress, Minneapolis.
"We believe the business in Canada has the potential to double in
size," said Hartwell. "Larry has the business experience, the knowledge
and the theological background to be an effective leader for our
Canadian operation."
