SPANISH-LANGUAGE RESOURCE CATALOG

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA),
the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS) and the
Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) have
developed a 57-page catalog listing Spanish-language
resources for use in congregations. ?The catalog
provides the only comprehensive list of
Spanish-language resources available from the three
church bodies,? said Evelyn B. Soto, ELCA director for
multilingual and culture-specific programs. Published
annually, the ?Spanish-Language Resources Catalog?
provides a bilingual description of books,
videocassettes and curricula in the fields of Christian
education, evangelism, worship and more. All of the
products are available in Spanish or Spanish/English
text and can be ordered directly from the organization
that offers it. Of the 11,000 ELCA congregations in the
United States and Caribbean, Soto said she knows of
200 congregations that have at least one worship
service in Spanish. ?Congregations are eager to
receive these resources for their ministry,? she said.
The catalog is a result of the Cooperative Parish
Projects Committee, a group of ELCA, LCMS and
WELS congregational ministry leaders. CPPC is
made possible by a grant from Aid Association for
Lutherans, a fraternal benefit organization based in
Appleton, Wis. The catalog was prepared by the
ELCA Division for Congregational Ministries and
Augsburg Fortress Publishers, the publishing house
for the ELCA.
