OHIO RIVER VALLEY FLOOD UPDATE

Lutheran Disaster Response of the Ohio River Valley is coordinating
volunteers in cleanup and debris removal over a widespread area of Ohio,
Kentucky and Indiana. Hundreds of calls have been received from people
willing to help, and volunteer crews are being sent out every day.
Emergency supplies are being received at pickup points, and distributed in
areas of need. A coordinator is presently based in Columbus (Mary Kanopka)
and two are based in Cincinnati (Stan Friesen, Carroll Grimes). A third
coordination office will be established farther South to serve additional
areas of Kentucky and Indiana.

Those wishing to volunteer can make arrangements by calling LDR's site
office at 800-664-5947. They are receiving more than a hundred calls a
day, and will take your name and number and get back to you. Persons
living in the Southwest Ohio area should call 513-771-8333.

Contributions to help in this major disaster relief effort may be sent to:
ELCA Domestic Disaster Response/PO Box 71764/Chicago, IL 60694-1764.
