Luherans are responding to flooding in the aftermath of severe storms that
have battered the west coast. An emergency grant has been provided to
Lutheran Social Services of Northern California.

LSS president Richard Stahlke reports that about 2,500 homes have been
damaged, although about 75% of these are minor damages. However, in an
area about 45 miles south of San Francisco ( northern Canta Clara County
and southern San Mateo County) about 1,000 homes have been affected.

As more storms are expected over this weekend and into next week, LSS and
Lutheran Disaster Response will continue to monitor changing needs.
